Anyone and everyone in retail knows about the NRF Big Show and this gal got to experience it.

A little recap for those who don't know... the NRF Big Show is held at the beginning of every year, in New York City where retail leaders from around the globe come together to speak on new innovations, new ways to market their business, and connect with each other. This big show is the largest retail conference in the entire world. Every year, a few days prior to the kick off of the week- long conference, they host a mini student conference, where I was chosen as the NRF Rising Star Scholar. That is what landed this college gal in New York City.

5 days in New York connecting with leaders in the retail industry, hearing speakers like the President of IKEA, the CEO of Kroger, Jo Malone, The founder of Bonobos, and conquering the city with besties is a dream come true.

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

1. Tavern on the Green

~The iconic restaurant in Central Park.

~ A wooden, rustic bar, windows looking out onto the magical park, and a modern dining experience. Clear roof with chandeliers hanging at every angle, ceiling to floor windows, and lots of white and greenery are truly a girl's best friend, not to mention the food was amazing. (Picture above of me in brown hat)

2. Ice Skating at Rockefeller

~ Kohl's rented out the rink for all of us and created a magical night. Ice skating with the skyscrapers towering over you, outside in New York City is breathtaking.

3. Chelsea Market

~ If a hip little neighborhood market is something you love, then Chelsea Market is right up your alley.

~ Brick floors, industrial ceiling and walls, and little hole in the wall shops, restaurants, bars, and markets surrounding you. Whether you choose the little wine bar jamming "Unwritten" or the crepe bar blaring "Say My Name", you simply can't go wrong.

4. Carriage Ride through Central Park

~ Do I really need to add a description here? Talk about magical.

5. The Plaza

~ If you feel like reliving your childhood, walk into the Plaza to find yourself at the cutest Eloise store. The tea party room, reading room, or fashion room will take you straight back to the days when all you wanted to do was live in the Plaza Hotel like Eloise. Not to mention, they also have the cutest little macaroon bar.

My trip to New York was one for the books. Being the Rising Star Scholar, I was able to spend five days on scholarship, and I am so blessed for that opportunity. It really is true, put yourself out there in life and you truly can begin living in a dream.
